Dual climate chamber

The dual climate chamber is a device that we use at DEVINN to test headlights (especially prototype headlights) to ensure that the headlight of a vehicle in the final development phase will not fog up during operation and therefore its functionality and lifetime will not be compromised in any way.

Life with an electric company car

Twenty thousand kilometres driven in eight months. You'd say normal mileage. But that's a lot of mileage on a company electric car. The second-generation Nissan Leaf is part of our DEVINN fleet, alongside both internal combustion and CNG vehicles.

Hydrogen infrastructure

Hydrogen infrastructure exists in the form of subsidised pilot projects, but also developing commercial infrastructure. The number of hydrogen vehicles and refuelling stations is growing year on year. Production costs and purchase prices are falling hand in hand.

Hydrogen storage

Because of its low density, hydrogen must be stored compressed in cylinders. These must be pressure-resistant, shatterproof and very tight to prevent hydrogen leakage. Compressing hydrogen itself is energy intensive. Cryogenic storage tanks with liquefied hydrogen are also used for stationary storage.

Fuel cell

The fuel cell converts hydrogen into electricity. A kilogram of hydrogen will give a car a range of around 100 kilometres. Fuel cells are now technologically advanced and safe devices. The relatively high cost of fuel cells has so far prevented mass deployment.

Use of hydrogen in cars

Hydrogen has the highest combustion energy per unit mass of any fuel. A hydrogen car is essentially an electric car that uses the conversion of hydrogen in the fuel cell to generate electricity. The drive is locally emission-free with ample range and fast refueling.
