Director of Development

DEVINN is a purely Czech company with 180 employees and a history spanning over 10 years. You may know us as the company behind the hydrogen-powered Tatra, for example. We focus primarily on hydrogen, electromobility, traction batteries, energy, and the automotive industry. The development business unit behind this has over 30 people. And we’re looking for a new head for it. We’re not looking for the best engineer in the Liberec Region. We’re looking for an engineer who has found their calling in leadership—someone who enjoys building a functional development team more than solving technical problems. An engineer, project manager, economist, facilitator, and leader all in one. Someone for whom financial planning and business strategy make just as much sense as the technical products behind them.

What you'll be driving:

  • Performance of the entire business unit– projects, deadlines, results, budget, capacity planning  
  • Staff– 4 line managers and specialists in grants, quality, and project management; recruitment, evaluation, and development  
  • Reporting to the CEO– a clear overview of the business unit’s status, KPIs, variances, and adjustments  
  • Customer communicationat the project level – escalations, change requests, satisfaction  
  • Translating strategy into reality – the ability to integrate it into team processes and capabilities

What you need to know: 

  • At least 5+ years of experiencemanaging technical teams   
  • Knowledgeof electrical engineering, electronics, or mechatronics – you must understand the work your supervisors do and be able to build trust with customers  
  • Experience with project management– deadlines, resources, budgets  
  • Czech ata native speaker level  
  • Englishat a conversational level  
  • The ability to lead without technical authority—your influence comes from trust and experience, not from being the best engineer in the room

We are currently building a storage system from second-life batteries for a client.We are delivering it turnkey, including the software.

1. Get in touch with the developers, get to know the mechanical part and find out what we need to control, what parameters to monitor or what to display on the UI screen

2. Design the application from A to Z, including security notifications,error conditions...

3. Program the application and be with the project from start to handover.You will participate in testing and client meetings. The application will literally be "your baby".
